FC and stuffs
Journal Entry: Tue Jan 29, 2008, 8:36 PM
Well, we went to FC, yay. It was fun, though two of the flights were kinda eh (Seg and I didn't get seats next to each other and the planes were packed like sardine cans). It was rainy and kinda cold there, but was still far superior to MN.
That said, it was pretty good. Had some fun problems with booze and people being passed out and such but yeah, heh. We got to San Fran on Wednesday, after which we had a fun public-transportation adventure using the BART and caltrain getting down to San Jose. Once we got there, we crashed in M's room on the 9th floor for the night. Thursday we got moved into our own room (that M was helping us out with) with Lhayn and Tylddar, and with help from Crissa and Samantha got registered later on that day. Alcohol flowed relatively freely throughout the time.
It kind of sucks going to a con without any money to spend on stuff, that's for sure. I saw lots of stuff that I wish I could have gotten, but there's always next year. I drew a few things... cranked out two con badges for Seg (since I thought the first one wasn't that great), did a pic for Tyl, and during the Saturday night dance around 2am I was asked if I wanted to do the 'live drawing' thing on stage since they'd only booked two people that night. So I drew a large crappy sort-of asian dragon since no better ideas were coming to me. I've learned I need to practice drawing big again. A few people were impressed with it since I cranked out the pic in like 15 minutes give or take, but yeah. Wore my sorta-crappy digitgrade legs with a tigertail/ears and some horns and makeup. I'll upload pics later of everything, pictures are worth far more words than I feel like typing.
There was a huge brawl down in the front lobby on Sunday that I heard about after it happened. Apparently two guys got into a straight-up fistfight and it was a major thing, I think the cops got called. So if you hear about that later, lulz on that.
I really do want to live in California. Especially the bay area. Lots of people there, good weather and awesome scenery, geology up the ass, and zomg stuff to do. The people are more colorful and interesting things can break out randomly, and I doubt that my tattoos or earrings would even be considered weird, let alone a hindrance to a career. Minnesota is very democratic and accepting and stuff to some degree, but most people look very white bread and boring. If you look different at all, you're kinda screwed to some degree. But above and beyond that, it doesn't get below freezing there.
Today I had to go get a CT scan done on my face so they could examine my sinuses. They didn't form correctly in the first place, and now ontop of that I have polyps. It's awesome when you effectively can't use your nose. The temp today dropped down to about -15F with a windchill of about -55F earlier by where I had to go (ultra high winds). I took the bus and the closest shelter-type structure to that bus stop is about 2 blocks away, not kidding. So I had to stand out there for about 10 or 15 minutes since the bus was late. So I can say right now I have frostbite on the backs of my legs and a few other places. Not too major but it feels like knives when it happens.
So, unrelated to the above weather bit, I have to start forcing myself to draw more now. I didn't crank out as much art as I wanted to at FC, kept not really getting into it and failing at poses/inspiration. So yeah x.x Sewing still too right now, but drawing's the thing I can do between classes at school more easily right now. Specifically I need to do life drawings again. Dammit, I need a fellow artist or two (or ten, etc) to hang out with who'd want to have drawing sessions or something. You know, where you egg each other on IRL to draw the worst thing possible or whatever. At least I've found that makes for good inspiration.
Well, time to go clean up the apartment some. Also to do physics homework. x.x
